Stoke City v Liverpool – Confirmed Line-ups
As suspected, the Brendan Rodgers has selected Dejan Lovren ahead of Mamadou Sakho for today’s season opener away to Stoke. As confirmed by the BBC, the line-ups for both teams are:
There is no start for Firmino which is not a great surprise given the Brazilian is somewhat behind his Liverpool teammates in terms of match fitness. Rodgers has opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Jordan Henderson and James Milner in front of the back four of Joe Gomez, Lovren, Martin Skrtel and Nathaniel Clyne. Christian Benteke is supported up front by the trio of Jordan Ibe, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.
Not an ideal line up to be honest, although the two midfielder structure is probably safest if the team wishes to be hard to beat.
So, let the games begin. 30 minutes and counting! Come on you REDS!!
