Tottenham vs Liverpool Match Preview

Vinolin Naidoo give us his thoughts ahead of the Liverpool’s game against Tottenham at Wembley stadium tomorrow.

Match Preview

Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon at Wembley, looking to defend their unbeaten record against the hosts that stretches back to November, 2012. The Reds record against the Premier League’s fellow big boys is impressive. Liverpool head into this game on the back of a 7-0 thrashing of Maribor in the Champions League. Spurs had a good result on Tuesday as well, holding Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in Spain. They will be looking to take all three points on Sunday.

Last Meeting: Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool (27th August 2016)

The last premier league encounter between these two sides ended in a 2-0 win for the Reds at Anfield. The last away game for the Reds against spurs finished 1-1 at White Hart Lane. A James Milner penalty was cancelled out by a Danny Rose goal on the day.
Spurs have so far struggled playing at Wembley and Liverpool will hope to capitalize on that on Sunday.

Team and Injury News

Ben Davies is still sidelined through illness and will have to be assessed before the weekend. Mousa Dembele is also struggling with an ankle injury and is in a race against time to be fit for this encounter. Danny Rose made his first appearance in a Spurs shirt since January with a 10-min substitute cameo and could make the bench again. Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela are still injury concerns for Spurs, however the former could be back in a fortnight.

The good news for the Reds is that there are no new injury concerns for this game. However, the Reds will still be without Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Nathaniel Clyne. James Milner will be hoping to keep his spot in the starting lineup after an impressive display in the Champions League.

Predicted Lineup

TOT (4-2-3-1): Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Winks, Dier, Dele, Eriksen, Sissoko, Kane

LFC (4-3-3): Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Milner, Can, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino

Prediction

Tottenham 2 – 2 Liverpool – This game should be a fast paced match that is end to end. Both teams will set up for three points. Both teams should score, and both goalkeepers will have lots to do. A draw would be a fair result on Sunday with the Reds taking a point back to Anfield.
