Liverpool F.C. – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – Gameweek 3
The Gunners got shot down, sent packing out of town. The Champions League draw, means it’ll be tough once more. The Reds are now black, for those with money in the bank. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – another week reviewed at the world’s favourite football club Liverpool F.C.
The Good
Stuffing Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield. A completely one-sided affair saw Liverpool run out with a comfortable win at Anfield. The Reds took the lead through a Joel Matip header as half time approached. It was no less than the hosts deserved in a dominant and energetic first half. In the second, things just got better.
New Arsenal signing David Luiz inexplicably dragged back Mo Salah in the area, leaving referee Anthony Taylor no choice but to point to the spot. The wronged Egyptian expertly dispatched the penalty past Bernd Leno. 2-0 and to all intents and purposes game over.
“It was a performance full of power, energy, greed and passion…”
Luiz was again involved in Liverpool’s third. Again, it was Salah who turned him inside out before skipping into the area to fire a dazzling shot passed Leno in the 58th minute.
To say this was an easy victory for Liverpool would be accurate. They were just too good for Arsenal, who were simply not at the races. Unai Emery has plenty work to do in north London and on this showing, it might be just a tad more than he ever envisaged.
Substitute Lucas Torreira pulled one back for the Gunners with five minutes left to play. By then though, the Gunners were gonners.
Jürgen Klopp was his usual enthusiastic self after the game “It was a performance full of power, energy, greed and passion, which I think you need against a team like Arsenal.” What he didn’t mention was: just turning up, as it seemed like that was all his team needed to do.

The (Not Bad)
The pair will be joined by Red Bull Salzburg of Austria and Belgium’s FC Genk. With all due respect to this pair, they will likely be playing for pride. Napoli and Liverpool will battle for the top two last 16 qualifying slots, in a repeat of last year. And we all know how that panned out!
I think most Liverpool fans will be happy with this draw. Yes, it will be tough for the Reds, given the results against Napoli last season. However, if they perform against the so-called lesser teams, then they have every chance of getting through to the last 16.

The Ugly
This has got to be Liverpool’s “Black-out” limited edition jersey. Absolutely awful this thing is.
Many of the fans seem to like it but personally, I don’t feel it. Sorry! Perhaps I have no taste but I don’t see why the team wants to look like 11 referees.
And at £200 a pop I’ve seen, one has to wonder why it’s so expensive. Even at half that price it would be expensive, and I can’t help thinking the club are taking the piss somewhat. Another example of football growing beyond the reach of the everyday supporter.
You as fans ultimately choose but for me, no thanks!
