Liverpool F.C. – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Gameweek 4
The Reds let them have it, 0-3 against the Clarets. No players coming in, and selling youngsters – surely a sin? Despite interest from other clubs, LFC retains the duds. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at the world’s favourite football club Liverpool F.C.
The Good
The solid 0-3 away victory against Burnley. An expected result one would say but we all know Liverpool have made hard work of this fixture before now. A Chris Wood one goal and second half efforts from Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino we’re enough to secure fourth win of the campaign.
This is of course early days in the season and for the two of you that read this article will know I don’t believe anything translates into form until around the 10th game. Then things begin to take shape. As football fans, we all wonder what will be if…
One has to feel for Burnley in this fixture. The own goal from Woods was no more than a fluke after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross guy his back and floated into the net past stranded ‘keeper Nick Pope.
Sadly there was no divine intervention for the Clarets for Liverpool’s second either. A poor pass from captain Ben Mee found Firmino who passed to the onrushing Mané… 0-2. Firmino fires in a third after being tees up by Mo Salah to wrap the game up in the 80th minute.
A Happy Birthday for me and three points for the Reds. A great end to the month.

The Bad
The reaction of Sadio Mané when he was substituted in the 85th minute.
“Sadio cannot hide his emotions, I like that. But all sorted. We spoke about it and everything is fine”
The Senegalese international was clearly furious when teammate Salah chose to shoot instead of passing to him in acres of space.
Jürgen Klopp shrugged off the incident simply saying: “Sadio cannot hide his emotions, I like that. But all sorted” I can’t help thinking there was probably more said to both players in the dressing room afterwards.
This I can understand. For all Mo Salah’s scoring prowess, I find his decision making can be a tad poor when in front of goal.
You can’t fault his commitment, but as a kid in the park he’d be the annoying ball-greedy one that never passes when someone’s in front of an empty goal. Despite leading 19-14 in the 175th minute!

The Ugly
Despite being unhappy at the club and attracting interest from both AC Milan and Roma Dejan Lovren remains at the club.
The 30 year-old has been the perennial subject of speculation for the last few seasons now. Having fallen behind Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and of course first choice centre back Virgil van Dijk in the central defensive pecking order.
I believe I speak for many Liverpool supporters who believe that Lovren’s exclusion from the side and the team’s recent solid defensive record is no coincidence. As well as he may have played on occasion, those days seem to be far behind him. In short, he’s past it!
The more Lovren stays away from the team, the fucking better. #LFC
