Liverpool F.C. – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Gameweek 6
The Reds start a winning tide, brushing the blues aside. The joy is but a flash as Napoli cause the Reds to crash. But a reason to cheer up, is when the kids progressed in the cup. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. T wenn reviewed at the world’s favourite football club Liverpool F.C.
The Good
Continuing the winning run this season by beating Chelsea 1-2 at Stamford Bridge. A Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick and a Roberto Firmino header, both in the first half were enough to seal the sixth win in as many games for Jürgen Klopp’s men.
N’Golo Kante’s super strike after 70 minutes was enough to earn a nail-biting finish for the Reds fans but insufficient to divert any points to Stanford Bridge.
Jürgen Klopp and his side are beginning to get a head of steam up following they’d sixth win in as many games. To see his side manage the game out after going behind was very reassuring. This is a game that Liverpool would likely have drawn or even lost two seasons ago. But credit muss to go to the manager for turning this motley crew around.
The acquisition of Virgil van Dijk had completed the puzzle and a mean defence has been added to a hard-working midfield and deadly front line. It’s fair to say that this team – dare I say it, are beginning to look like the real deal.

The Bad
The defeat to Napoli in the Champions League during the week. This wasn’t as must win game by any stretch but that said, it shouldn’t have been a must lose either! A Dries Mertens penalty and late Fernando Llorente goal was enough to send Liverpool home empty-handed.
Napoli have recently become Liverpool’s bogey team. However, that would likely be doing an injustice to Carlo Ancelotti’s side who used brains and skill to outplay their visitors.
“We played a lot of good football but didn’t finish it off. We controlled moments but had not enough chances in the end.”
Klopp expressed his disappointment after the game but in truth, he had little to complain about. “We controlled moments but had not enough chances in the end” bemoaned the manager. Truth is Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly deserves credit for thwarting international teammate Sadio Mané and his illustrious Strike partners.
Despite the result, all is not lost. This is after all the first group stage game and as such, there remains much more to play for o,ver the next five games. Liverpool lost to Napoli in this fixture last season and we all know what happened after that.

The Ugly
A report originating from The Times claimed this week that Liverpool has to pay rivals Manchester City a £1m settlement following claims that the Reds hacked City’s scouting database after recruiting a number of their to scouts.
The incident happened in 2013 was settled without the knowledge of the Premier League after the Scout 7 system was logged into repeatedly by Liverpool employees. This will come asa surprise to many, although personally given the huge sums involved in the game these days, I wouldn’t rule out this kind of behaviour going on at many top clubs.
The fact that Liverpool settled the matter with such a payout does make one suspect this was no “pie in the Sky” claim from the Cityzens. What exactly happened I suppose we’ll never know but there certainly seems to be some James Bond type stuff going on these days.
To be fair, considering Liverpool transfers at that time included Iago Assad, Simon Mignolet and Tiago Ilori, it’s conceivable to think the database wasn’t exactly brimming with riches anyway!
Liverpool FC have breached transfer regulations in the past for the signing of under 16 yr old players, broken transfer regulations in tapping up VVD from Southampton and now they have been found guilty of spying on Man City FC's scouting database all have gone unpunished by F.A?
