LFC 21/22 – The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – Gameweek #4
A well earned victory and a striker making history. All sadly marred by an awful injury. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool F.C.
The Good
A deserved three points on the board to keep apace with the early leaders. The 0-3 win against Leeds at Elland Road was hard fought and came at a high cost (see The Ugly).
Liverpool’s Brazilian players Fabinho and Alisson were allowed to play following the lifting of the FIFA ban, dished out last week after the abandoned international fixture against Argentina.
Goals from Mo Salah, Fabinho and as third (eventually) from Sadio Mané secured the three points against Leeds who ended with 10 men when Pascal Struijk received a red card for his challenge on Harvey Elliot.

The (Not) Bad
Salah’s goal took him to 100 Premier League goals in 161 games. 98 of those coming in a red shirt. I don’t think there needs to be any more said than that. A quality player in a quality team.
To be fair, when Salah arrived at Liverpool I think many fans (including me) were a little sceptical of the impact the little Egyptian would make. The club had tracked him before but lost out to Chelsea in 2014. Save to say we’ve all been proved wrong.
Mo Salah is in the 100 Premier League goals club 🎉🎉#LEELIV #bbcfootball

A goal in each of his first three starts for Liverpool set him on the road to deserved success for the Reds.
Congratulations Mo. Here’s to 200!!
The Ugly
The injury suffered by young Harvey Elliot. The 18 year-old was brought down by a clumsy, albeit innocuous looking challenge by defender Struijk. It comes as a cruel blow to one of the most promising talents seen in a red for a while.
The incident that happened in the 60th minute saw the Belgian shown an immediate red card got the challenge. This, I have to say, looked like one of the more gruesome injuries one is likely to see in a game.
It is a bad injury. Ankle. I heard it was dislocated, we could put it back. He is now in the hospital, and we have to wait
Jürgen Klopp
To be fair there was, in my opinion, no intent to hurt Elliot, it was just a bad tackle. The latest is that the injury is not as bad as first thought. Something I find astonishing having seen it happen. “He played, again, an incredible game and he is an incredible player. But now he is out” bemoaned Jürgen Klopp post match.
Get well soon Harvey! You’ll be sorely missed, lad.
