LFC 21/22 – The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – Gameweek #6
Nothing scary about the Canaries, but the Bees have the Reds on their knees. When all is said and done, the boys remain number one. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool F.C.
The Good
Easing past Norwich City away by 0-3 in the Carabao Cup third round. A brace from Takumi Minamino and one from Divock Origi was more than the East Anglians could manage.
Add to that debuts for youngsters Kaide Gordon and Conor Bradley in addition to Tyler Morton from the bench, Liverpool had more to celebrate.
The youngsters more than played their part with Gordon looking particularly impressive. However, the plaudits must go to Minamino who is looking more and more capable each time he plays.
Into the fourth round 🙌

Great performance, Reds 🤩#NORLIV pic.twitter.com/FCGF2Ig4Ee
It seems like he’s beefed up a bit since this time last season. He does seem physically more comfortable amid the rough and tumble of the English game.
The Japan international is beginning to shine now and I’m sure he’ll play a much bigger part this season. It’s likely his English has improved too which I’m sure has played a huge part in this. A good grasp the local language is something often overlooked when foreign players come to the club, and this must be a touch hurdle to overcome.
The Bad
The result against Brentford at the weekend. OK, it wasn’t the end of the world and to be fair, huge credit has to go to Bees who tactically played a blinder. Thomas Frank and his team really done their homework and set about making Liverpool’s visit a rather uncomfortable one.

Jürgen Klopp was generous in his praise for the west London team and quite rightly so, after the Reds fell behind, only to take the lead and be pegged back twice.
Their goalie should have number 10 on his shirt with the balls that he played…
Jürgen Klopp
Liverpool we’re actually fortunate to come away with a point after a late Brentford goal was called off for offside. “Not sure ‘enjoy’ is the right word — it was a wild ride,” said the boss after the game
The (Sm)Ugly
Despite the humbling at Brentford Liverpool remain defiant at the top of the Barclays Premier League. Albeit by one point, lead they do. Considering the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United both lost, Reds fans can only be smug at the end of this gameweek.
The team can take heart from their performances over the week. A triumphant young side at Norwich and holding on at Brentford tighter than a scared baby holds your finger, is testament to this side.

Again, it’s early days yet and there remains a LOT of football to be played until May. Let’s see where we are after the 10-game mark.
Will a lack of investment in the team come back to haunt Liverpool? Will their concentration on building from within and securing their top talent win over? Like with a thrilling soap opera, we await the the next instalment with great anticipation and excitement.
