LFC 21/22 – The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – Gameweek #12
Nothing is lacking, as the Gunners are sent packing. A screamer from Thiago, sees of Porto. A rival boss gets irate, with tactics that are second rate. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool Football Club.
The Good
Returning to winning ways following the loss to West Ham, and trouncing Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield. The Reds came out easy winners against Mikel Arteta’s high-flying Gunners.
Goals from Sadio Manè, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah and Takumi Minamino confirmed Jürgen Klopp’s outfit we’re just too strong for this in-form Arsenal side. The visitors fell victim to some clinical counterattacks caused by their insistence to push forward in the second half.
The scoreline flattered Liverpool a tad considering only Manè’s 39th minute goal separated them going into the break. In the second half, the Reds simply picked through the spaces left from an overeager Arsenal side, like the Artful Dodger with the pockets of the gentry.
The Arsenal collapse had undone all of their earlier good work and rendered the contest over with just under 15 minutes left to play.

The game was marred only by the altercation between the managers over a challenge on Mané (see The Ugly below).
The (Not) Bad
Seeing off FC Porto 2-0 at Anfield in the Champions League Group B Matchday five fixture.
Liverpool join Bayern Munich and Ajax as the only teams in the competition with 100% records going into the final games of the group stage. Their Portuguese visitors were swept away far easier than anyone would have imagined when the group draw was made.
The scoring was opened by a sensational half-volleyed shot from Thiago, that had his opponents stunned into silence after 52 minutes. Salah wrapped up the scoring on 72 minutes, cutting in from the right and drilling home at the near post.
This wasn’t a classic European night at Anfield by any stretch of the imagination, but enough to put a smile on the 50,000 faces of the Liverpool fans nonetheless.
A stunning strike and a sensational all-round display from @Thiago6 🤩

The Ugly
The handbags between Klopp and Arteta during Saturday’s game. Arteta was, according to him, “defending his team” after a tackle from Mané in the first half.
Klopp on the other hand saw it for what it was, a blatant attempt from Arsenal to get the Liverpool No. 10 booked or sent off. Exactly as Atlético Madrid done a fortnight earlier.
“It was obvious it was nothing, but they still wanted something…”
“It was obvious it was nothing…” said Klopp after the game which was totally true. Ultimately, there are tactics and there are tactics. Arteta was simply trying to do what his compatriot Diego Simeone done.
Arteta finally reveals the cause of the dispute between him and klopp.
"All the things were fine and I had kept calm…
But then he [klopp] said "arsenal is playing like Manchester united today"That was it for me"#LIVARS pic.twitter.com/0txa5pXyav

For me, this is simply a demonstration the fear they have against a superior team. Both got what they deserved from the game… nothing.
