LFC 22/23 – The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – Gameweek #4
What better sign, than thrashing the Cherries by nine. Klopp admits it was wrong to wait, but is it now too late? So you see, Reds’ past success was due to pee! The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool Football Club.
The Good
I doubt anyone would disagree with The Good being the weekend’s result. Liverpool thrashed Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield on Saturday in a repeat of a result last seen when unlucky Crystal Palace were stuffed by the same score line back in 1989.
Following a less than impressive start to the season, The Reds’ players showed in emphatic fashion, that they are still a force to be reckoned with. Something Scott Parker and his Cherries won’t forget in a hurry!
“Very good. We wanted to show a reaction”
Jürgen Klopp asked his players for a reaction after a very slow start to the season, culminating in a 2-1 defeat to arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford. “Very good. We wanted to show a reaction. Be ourselves. Getting to be the best version of ourselves. We play a specific way. We scored wonderful goals…” enthused the boss after the game.
Goals aplenty mean it’s not worth naming each scorer, but Roberto Firmino stood out on the day. The Brazilian has struggled for form in recent times and has seen Diogo Jota leapfrog him in the striking pecking order. New boy Fabio Carvalho scored a nice first goal in front of the Kop.

The brace from in-form Luis Diaz also can’t go unmentioned. In all a fantastic team performance. A perfect response to end a miserable run of results.
The Bad
The apparent change of heart from the Liverpool hierarchy, in admitting finally that they ARE in the market for a midfielder following injuries to almost all of their first team players in the position.
The U-Turn has left Klopp and company with a lot of work to do in very little time. With the 01st September deadline approaching fast, the club have left themselves with a lot of work to do. By all accounts, it was Klopp’s claim of not needing to buy that has caused the situation.
To be honest, my only surprise is that Klopp has admitted the blunder. He is usually of the impression that he knows best and that journalists, fans and pundits know less than he does.
“I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong.” Said the boss this week, as it became clear going to the market would be the best option to achieve some level of consistent competition this season.
The reports of Klopp making a uturn on a midfielder basically confirm it was Klopp blocking us getting someone like Nunes. Let's hope we can still get a good signing through the door.

Better late than never I suppose. The club has become known for their ability to surprise so I wouldn’t write them off yet. Hopefully Julian Ward can spare Jürgen’s blushes yet.
The Ugly
Amid the zero to hero factor this week, a very bizarre admission came to light from one of the clubs former legends . Former goalie Bruce Grobbelaar claimed that he poured his pee against the goalposts at Anfield in order to lift a curse.
The curse was allegedly put on the club by a witch doctor according to the 64 year-old… Liverpool would never win the league without him in goal was the alleged fate bestowed upon the team.
“So I peed in a bottle, poured it all down the posts and crossbar at both ends…”
Apparently Liverpool we’re cursed and failed to win the League “So I peed in a bottle, poured it all down the posts and crossbar at both ends, and saved a penalty at the Anfield Road End. Then the Reds went on an undefeated run at Anfield and won the league!”
Believe that if you will…
