Liverpool vs West Ham United – Match Preview

Liverpool welcome West Ham for the Premier League clash tonight at L4. The Reds will try to build on their two back-to-back wins and make use of the momentum.

Overview

This is a match Liverpool can not afford to lose. Two points separate these two in the table, although the home side have one game in hand.

The Hammers have registered the worst start to a Premier League season in six years. Last year, they were flying and achieving extraordinary results in all competitions. All those good things came to an end.

David Moyes has been struggling with the integration of the new arrivals due to a jam-packed calendar and experienced players have been underperforming. The international break turned out to be a breakthrough and got the Hammers back on the right track.

Head to head

Liverpool have been unbeaten in the last five meetings against the London side, scoring 14 and losing four goals.

It’s been seven years since the Hammers last tasted victory over the Reds as a visiting team.

Team news

Diogo Jota joins Luis Diaz, Arthur Melo, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip in a busy treatment room. Jürgen Klopp gave a positive update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s and Naby Keita’s fitness but both of them will be unavailable for this encounter.

Maxwel Cornet and Nayef Aguerd will be sidelined for West Ham. Additionally, Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson are doubts.

Summary

There’s no place like home. The lads in red gear will remain at Anfield for this mid-week game with the Londoners, before they head again to away grounds. Pep Guardiola found the power of Liverpool’s 12th man to his cost on Sunday afternoon.

I believe we will build on our momentum and finish the game on the winning end.
