LFC 22/23 – The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – Gameweek #26
Last week’s heroes, this week’s zeros. A last ditch bid, fails in Madrid. The club clears dead wood, as we know they should. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool Football Club.
The Good
Frankly nothing good to write about this week. Following the team’s exploits against Manchester United in the last game, they swiftly lose 1-0 against bottom-three club Bournemouth.
If this didn’t demonstrate how inconsistent this bunch is right now, nothing will. The Reds were simply poor. And that’s being polite. A Mo Salah missed penalty and absolutely dreadful defending, meant Liverpool’s recent progress was brought to a shuddering halt.

Bournemouth deserved their win. Liverpool were simply absent. Their top four hopes, although not over, have taken a serious dent. There are still 36 points to play for, but I’m beginning to get bored of saying that each time the team throws a result away. Which brings me on to…
The Bad
Losing in Madrid 1-0 to Real Madrid to finally close the Champions League chapter for this season. Following the calamitous first leg 2-5 drubbing, it was a dream too far to expect Liverpool to win this one. This Real side are simply a class above this hit and miss Reads team.

Liverpool now have nothing to play for this season other than a top-for slot and the way things are going, that’s set to be a struggle.
The Ugly
Things will get ugly this summer at Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp prepares to rid the club of the dead wood fringe players. Naby Keïta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino are all set to leave as their contracts expire. However, according to Talksport, Joel Matip will also be told to find a new club.
The report goes on to suggest youngster Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips will also be allowed to leave. The biggest shock in the report is that the club are prepared to cash in on back up goalie Caoimhin Kelleher. A move the club will no doubt live to regret as their desperation to land Jude Bellingham at the cost of having no reserve goalie becomes apparent.
