LFC: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Preseason Gameweek #1
A preseason win at a good pace, whilst the club plays a game of wild goose chase. A big money bid potentially looms, that could make the bosses plans go “boom”! The end is nigh, as a Club legend says goodbye. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another week reviewed at Liverpool Football Club.
The Good
The 2-4 win against Karlsruhe to start the preseason program. The Reds hour off to a schedule start this year. Goals from Darwin Nùñez, Cody Gakpo and brace from Diogo Jota was sufficient to give Liverpool the spoils.
The win didn’t come without some heart-stopping moments for Jürgen Klopp and his men. Karlsruhe equalised shortly after Núñez opened the scoring and extended their lead shortly afterwards.
However, with the main Reds players coming on in the second half the gulf in quality between the two sides was evident and on the end Liverpool deserved their win.
The (Not) Bad
The Express have clearly been listening to my podcast. It’s clear the Names released by Liverpool as “targets” are a smokescreen for their real intended players.
It’s obvious when we look at the likes of Luis Diaz, Darwin Núñez, Fabinho and Jota that Liverpool are playing their transfer cards very close to their chest these days – just like in times gone by. Credit to them and well done the Express for working out… eventually!!
The Ugly
Reports have surfaced linking Liverpool’s Luis Diaz with a £43m bid from another Saudi Pro League outfit. The repOrr in the Mirror claims Al-Hilal “are desperate” To land the Reds’ Columbia winger.
I couldn’t see Liverpool selling.
The report quotes the Portuguese publication Record. With Liverpool only recruiting the 26 year-old 18 months ago, I doubt the club would be prepared to cash in on one of their leading performers.
And Finally
Liverpool’s most decorated captain in a couple of generations is leaving the club. Thanks Jordan Brian Henderson. Thanks for the memories. Thanks for your efforts and your heart and thanks for being as true RED!!
YNWA!
