LFC: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – 2023/24 Gameweek #2

The Reds get their first win of the season, and a red card is rescinded because there was no reason. The team has a new number eight, who could well in future become a great. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, at Liverpool FC. The weekly podcast from the LFC File

The Good

The first win of the season. The Reds came out worthy winners against Bournemouth after falling a goal behind, and later losing Alex Max Allister to a dubious red card.

Standout performances came from Luis Diaz who scooped the Man of The Match accolade, and my personal player elect Dominik Szloboszlai. The Hungarian’s energy, ability to pick out a pass and read the game will help the team massively.

The (Not) Bad

The Red card for Alex Mac Allister was overturned yesterday. The dismissal the Argentina received on Saturday was pretty farcical. It was certainly a yellow card, but a straight red…? Certainly not.

That means that the incident in the 58th minute of Saturday’s game will now be confined to a blip. The new no. 10 will now be available for selection in Sundays game against Newcastle at St. James’s Park.

The Smugly

This was for me, Dominik Szoboszlai’s performance at the weekend. At this point in time, he’s Liverpools signing off the window so far.

His energy, awareness and reading of the game was just impeccable against Bournemouth. In fact, I’d say he reminded me somewhat of a previous no. 8 the club had… (No, not Naby Keita…) but Steven Gerrard.

A great performance form the Hungarian who we have to remind ourselves is just 22!!
