The Bad

The performance against Toulouse during the week the Europa League group stage fixture. Liverpool were well beaten 3-2, despite having a late Jarel Quansah equaliser disallowed for a handball by Alex Mac Allister in the build up.

Liverpool went into the break 1-0 down when Aron Donnum scored on 34 minutes. In the second half, the host doubled their lead after 58 minutes through Thijs Dallinga. A bizarre Toulouse one goal gave Liverpool a glimpse of hope which was short lived when they were pegged back again when Frank Magri found the net in the 78th minute.

Substitute Diogo Jota gave Liverpool hope when he finished a superb solo run in the last minute of normal time. Quansah scored what seemed to be a fortunate equaliser for the Reds only for referee Georgi Kabakovto ruled out the goal – after initially awarding it, after good old VAR intervened.

Needless to say Jürgen Klopp and his bis were incensed. But, to be fair, a draw would have been an injustice to Toulouse after such a take Liverpool Performance

The (Sm)Ugly

A double smugly this week because firstly, Liverpool overcame a tricky Brentford side to secure a 3-0 victory over the west Londoners.

Darwin Núñez was unlucky to have had two goals chalked off after VAR enquiries, but Mo Salah was on hand to score a brace to advert the Reds lead. Diogo Jota scored another screamer – to continue his rich vein of form, and put the game beyond Thomas Frank’s team.

The second Smugly was Mo Salah scoring his 200th premier league goal. His 198 for Liverpool in addition to two for Chelsea have seen the Egyptian to his landmark.
