Liverpool FC: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly – EL & FA Cup week.

The Sparta side feels a Red tide, but the boys trip up in the cup. Some people don’t get sent off you know… that is if your name’s Bruno! The Good, The Bad and and The Ugly at Liverpool FC for the Europa League and FA Cup week

The Good

The emphatic win against Sparta Prague at Anfield in Thursday. Not content with a 5-1 result in Prague, Liverpool put this tie beyond any doubt with a 6-1 mauling in the second leg of the Europa League last 16 match.

A string of scorers, including a first goal for Bobby Clark, underlined the gulf in quality between these two sides. An exquisite opener from Darwin Núñez, was swiftly followed by Clark, Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo sending the hosts into the break with a 4-0 lead. A whopping 9-0 on aggregate.

In the second half Szoboszlai added a deflected fifth and Gakpo was on hand to wrap up the scoring with his second of the evening. Veljko Birmancevic scored an early second half goal to restore some pride but this was inevitably no more than a consolation.

Anything Liverpool

The Bad

Losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup Quartett final at Old Trafford yesterday.

Likely the worst Liverpool performance of the season and top cap it off against that lot from along the road.

The Ugly

Liverpool’s performance in the game yesterday. I can’t remember a game where the players have lost the ball so easily. In the second half it was as if they felt they were going to win without trying.

An absolutely toothless performance. Two deflected goals for Liverpool tells its own story. The boys were lucky to have even got to extra time let alone get to the semis
