Liverpool FC: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – EPL Gameweeks 30 & 31
The Blades are blunted, but against the Devils, we were stunted. Possession galore and nothing more leaves the players sore. In FPL nothing great, but then it’s not too late. The good, The Bad and The Ugly at Liverpool FC for Gameweeks 30 and 31.
The Good
Liverpool’s hard-earned win over Premier League strugglers Sheffield United during the week. Nobody thought this was going to be easy, but it to a wonder strike from Alexis Mac Allister to give the Reds some daylight.
Up until that point, Darwin Núñez had put Liverpool in front in bizarre fashion, after charging down Blades ‘keeper Ivo Grbic’s clearance. The equaliser was also from the same book of odd goals; Connor Bradley helpings United cross into the net.
In the second half game change when talisman Mo Salah was substituted – much to hours surprise and annoyance! Mac Allister pushed forward after being joined by Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson, with Joe Gomez briefly moving the number six position.
In the end, the intensity and physicality odd the Liverpool game was too much for their visitors to resist. Mac Allister housing the crossbar and then scoring with a worldie from the edge of the box.
Cody Gakpo scored a text book header late on to Stella the host’s nerves and in so doing, helping the Reds to return to the top odd the table.
The Bad
The disappointing 2-2 result against a Manchester United yesterday. Definitely a matter of 2 points lost rather than anything like “coming away from Old Trafford with a point” kind of thing.
Despite having the most chances I’ve seen a Liverpool side have and NOT score, I’m trying to remain optimistic.
Liverpool took the lead through Lucho Diaz, but this was cancelled out early in the second half when Bruno Fernandez latched onto a short Jarell Quansah pass and succeeded in scoring from virtually the half way line.
The Red Devils took the lead with a blinding strike from Kobbie Boateng Mainoo (truly, a lovely African name, just a shame he’s at the wrong club!). Liverpool had to be patient to get their minimum deserts from this game.
Mo Salah was on hand to fire home a penalty, awarded when Harvey Elliott was hauled down in the box.
Liverpool for sure we’re disappointed with this result. I’m sure we all were. That said, Liverpool are still very much in the hunt.
Let’s remain positive and see what the next game brings.
The Ugly
Jarell Quansah’s subsequent abuse following his wayward passing yesterday’s game. Sadly the pass was intercepted and converted into an equalising goal by Bruno Fernandez.
It now transpires, that young Jarell’s Instagram account has had to be curtailed somewhat due to persistent abuse following after the incident.
Despite claims that there could be “no Liverpool fan” doing this, I doubt it very much. Sadly.
There are some sections of every fanbase that are perfectly capable and willing to perpetrate these events.
Personally, I remain a fan and I’m glad he was able to maintain his composure afterwards and continue to focus on the and his game.
Jarell… YNWA!
