Liverpool FC: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – EPL Gameweek 32

No longer top after another flop. The owners are bluffed, just as the Reds get stuffed. In FPL another reverse, but still, some were even worse! A glance to heaven as we remember the 97.

The Not Good

Liverpool’s loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield yesterday.

The Reds lost their second home game on the bounce yesterday fall long to Crystal Palace 0-1 in yesterday’s premiership fixture.

The Bad

Ticket prices going up. Now for those who think I’m going to take issue with FSG for putting the price is up, and you can think again.

Personally, I think it’s a good idea because Liverpool football club is actually a business a fact that seems to escape many. We’ve all seen during the week many fans took exception to the fact that the club’s owners want to raise ticket prices by 2%. TWO PERCENT. Why is this such a bad thing?

In the UK, inflation, without me, checking, is running at a rampant, eight or 9% in real terms. Therefore, to increase prices by 2% for any business frankly doesn’t make sense. However, FSG have clearly born the pockets and feelings of the supporters in mind.

Let’s not forget that there are also employees of Liverpool football club, who do not wear a red shirt every week and get paid millions to do their job! They are groundsman, caterers, chefs, people who clean the kit, people who answer the telephones, people that clean AXA training center… And, of course, the Melwood complex which the club still owns and has to run and maintain for the women’s team.

Therefore, for Liverpool fans to complain, I think, is frankly shortsighted. Many may not like this, but it’s simply a fact of modern life. Ask yourselves: how would you feel if you’re employee decided to give you a 2% increase when prices in the shops are going up by 7: or 8%? Think about it…

The Ugly

The performance against Italian site at Atlanta in the quarterfinal, first leg of the Europa league at Enfield on Thursday night.

This is likely the worst performance I have seen from a Liverpool team in many a year – let alone under Jürgen Klopp. In all honesty, I think it’s fair to say that, the club, the players and the fans are like have all orchestrated our own downfall.

What I mean is that since the draw was announced, and the fact that we would be playing French side, Marseille, should we succeed, left everybody feeling, as if it would be a stroll in the park to reach the final.

Liverpool now have a mountain to climb. I would argue that this is probably a bigger task than beating Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield.

It’s a different proposition having 2500 to 3000 fans in the corner of the stadium in a foreign country against another 40-odd thousand baying for your blood, then being at Enfield with 50,000 cheering you on and singing You’ll Never Walk Alone.

All things considered, you never say never, and we go with at least hope into the second leg that we can at least score a couple of goals to say face if not progress to the semifinal.
