The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek 2

The Reds bring the Bees to their knees, and the boy that’s benched isn’t pleased. An old boss dampens the mood with his claim the team won’t improve.

The Good

The 2-0 win against Brentford at Anfield yesterday. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mo Salah were enough to give Liverpool their second in as many games as the season gets underway.

Brentford kept Liverpool at bay for long periods, but were unable to stop the Reds’ breakaway goal on 13 minutes when a Bees corner was intercepted by Salah who’s loose ball was picked up by Diogo Jota and a perfect through ball on to the forward running Lucho.

In the second half it was all Liverpool as Brentford held on for chances which were few and far between. In the end, Tomas Frank conceded his team were beaten fair and square, by this new-look Reds side.

The Bad

The seemingly tense exchange between Arne Slot and Trent Alexander-Arnold after the right back was substituted with 20 minutes to go against Brentford on Sunday.

The 25 year-old was seen looking less than pleased when Slot had a word with him after he was withdrawn from the game. Needless to say, fans are now speculating as to whether irreparable damage had been done as a result.

The Ugly
