The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #5

The Reds please many a fan with a win in Milan. The cherries are plucked and royally beaten, and it’s what we win that decides if this lad is out or in.

The Good

Beating Italian giants AC Milan in their own back yard. The Reds fell behind early on after some sloppy defending gave their hosts the lead.

However, having suffered defeat over the weekend, Arne Slot‘s side were apparently determined not to let that happen again.

Quick-fire goals from Ibu Konaté and Virgil van Dijk on 23 and 41 minutes respectively, put the visitors to this famous stadium back in the driving seat.

A second half goal from Dominic Szoboszlai was enough to put the game beyond their hosts. A super result in Slot‘s first Champions League fixture since joining the Reds in the summer.

The (Not) Bad

For the Not Bad this week, I have chosen of course Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday at Anfield.

A Luis Diaz double ahead of a spectacular Darwin Núñez effort was enough to seal the points for Liverpool after a mixed but yet still encouraging first half display.

The visitors put Liverpool under pressure early on and had a goal fortunately disallowed allowed for offside, which provided the hosts with a wake up call.

Liverpool then stepped up a gear or two and put the game beyond hope for their rivals from the south coast. A lack-lustre second half failed to produce any goals, as Liverpool controlled the game while protecting their lead.

The Ugly

For the Ugly this week, I have chosen some news about Trent Alexander Arnold who discusses the most important factors that will decide whether or not he pens a new deal with the club after his 20 years of service.

The local lad confirmed that his decision to sign an an extended contract with the reds will be determined by the teams success this year. Therefore, trophies will be the deciding factor on whether or not he decides to stay.
