The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #17 & 18
We put the Foxes, back in their boxes and no choke in the smoke. There’s still room for a frown with yet another man down. All looks good in the FPL Hood.
The Good
The 0-5 dismantling is West Ham United in the City of London Stadium. There was no Goals Against in this match, as the boys sought to avoid a repeat of the Spurs game, where they conceded late on.
First half goals from Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and of course… Magic Mo signalled the ending of any realistic chance of the Hammers getting back into the game.
A screamer from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a Diogo Jota effort put the match emphatically beyond doubt and signalled a mass exodus from the home fans. It seemed as if there more Liverpool fans in the Stadium than home fans by the end, such was their degree of their departure.
The (Not) Bad
The 3-1 win against Leicester City on Boxing Day. The Reds fell behind early on, but were not to be denied, and ensured they were back on level terms when Cody Gakpo fired home in first half injury time.
The second half was one way traffic and Curtis Jones gave the hosts the lead with a well-taken finish five minutes after the restart.
Who else but Mo Salah put the game beyond reach with a shot from the edge of the box in the 83rd minute. Game over and the Fox‘s early game optimism was snuffed out in emphatic fashion at Anfield.
The Ugly
Injury blow with Joe Gomez coming off against West Ham. The versatile long-serving defender and midfielder pulled up midway through the first half holding the back of his thigh.
First indications are that the 27 year-old will face a few weeks on the treatment list before he is available again.
