The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweeks #24 & #25
The Wolves gave it some backing but in the end were sent packing and the Blues are always worthy of boos. An after-match ruck… what the hell?
The Good
The win against Wolves on Sunday. Liverpool hung on against a spirited Wolves side to secure 2-1 win at Anfield.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring with a low header before he was brought down in the Wolves box – Mo Salah expertly converted the resulting penalty.
One could be forgiven for thinking that Liverpool were home and dry. The events of the Merseyside derby during the week and surrendering a winning position seemed to weigh heavy on the Reds.
Their conceding a second half goal signalled the start of a display of nervousness ahead of the final whistle.
Relief rather than jubilation will be the overriding emotion for players and fans alike after the game.
The Bad
Liverpool drawing against Everton in the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park
The Ugly
Curtis Jones’ behaviour at the final whistle against Everton. Such a reaction I don’t remember seeing after a previous game in this famous fixture.
The 24 year-old academy graduate took offence to Adeayou Decoure‘s celebration at the final whistle and proceeded to sprint 30 yards across the pitch to remonstrate with him.
Needless to say, chaos ensued with players from both sides piling in, to either break the situation up or reinforce their players position. Only they will know!
