The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – 2024/25 Gameweek #33

The Good
This week, it will be confirmation that Virgil van Dyke signed a two year extension to his existing contract as has been expected over the last few days.
As reported recently in The Athletic both the Dutchman and Mo Salah had finally agreed extensions ending months of speculation.
This will come as a huge relief to club and fans who can now concentrate on bringing home number ’20’ over the last five games of the season.
The (Not) Bad
This was most definitely, Liverpool‘s extremely hard-fought 0-1 victory over strugglers Leicester at the King Power Stadium yesterday. At the same time, condemning the Foxes to relegation.
In a continuation of recent performances, Liverpool failed to make the early dominance pay off as a number of quality chances were burned.
Leicester City, fighting for survival, were desperate to try and get something from this game. This showed in the way that they took the game to Liverpool, who seemed to struggle to assert themselves on the match and to maintain control of the proceedings.
A wake up call came when Leicester were able to bundle the ball over the Liverpool line which quite rightly, was ruled out for a foul on Alisson Becker.
As time ticked down Trent Alexander-Arnold entered the fray and was on hand to fire home a late effort that proved to be the winner.
The Ugly
The former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys dismissed Liverpool’s title expected title win this week, claiming that Liverpool will win nothing next season, and that their success this term has only been due to the lack of competition from other teams.
This is typical from Keys who often seeks to be controversial in an effort to keep himself in the limelight. This can be there only reason why one would so put such drivel!
When all is said and done, it’s absolutely clear that Liverpool are not responsible for the performances of the teams around them and as such have simply done what any team that wishes to win the Premier League has done. That’s to say, that they have beaten the teams around them sufficiently enough to leave the table.
